Rio Density Intencity

Back to Rio for a few intense and last days with Agus, we tour up and down the streets of Uruguayana feeling our energies getting drained out by the consumerist society, by the crowds of people anxious to buy plastic bags filled with cheap plastic, by the insane noise of the traffic and street vendors. We hike up Morro Corcovado to reach the  symbol of Rio, the Cristo Redentor (just because my sister thought I must). Leaving from the fairytale park of Lague, we get up in 90 minutes and run back down in 45! It’s a lush trilha and a great relief to be one last time in the jungle with Agus, but we are disappointed that we have to pay 12 R to enter the sight most people take a bus to get to! Of course I am not even going to mention about the tourists one finds up there. We squeezed into the tiny chapel at the feel of the gigantic statue to try reflect under the cameras' flashes.

The intensity of Rio is not over with the sunshine, Monday night in Pedra so Sal, the black quarter, we watch a live Samba band as a massive storm splashes us under the tarp. In the streets of the bohemian Lapa, Wednesday night-life is still a bit dull for us so we head back to our balcony over Bar da Cachaca in Central Hostel to have a last jam session together...
